About Us

Ebor Lex stands as a prominent sub-society within the York Law Society. It is an undergraduate journal at the University of York, dedicated to delivering accessible, comprehensive and engaging legal news to the student body. As well as this, it offers an invaluable opportunity for students to enhance their legal writing skills and gain first-hand experience in legal journalism.

The website will serve as a platform for a diverse array of legal articles to be published, covering a wide selection of legal topics, ensuring that all students remain well informed and aware of developments within the field of law. In addition to our digital journal copies, we remain committed to publishing a printed edition once each semester.

In the upcoming year we are also excited to announce the introduction of The Ebor Lex Competition Awards. This offers students the opportunity to showcase their exceptional writing skills by participating in a captivating competition. Two competitions will take place, once in semester one and another in semester two. The writers of the two winning articles in each semester will then compete against each other for an overall winner, which will be judged and decided by esteemed academics from The York Law School. This competition will not only showcase students’ talent in legal writing, but also provide a platform for individuals to develop their abilities to articulate their work in a competitive environment.

We believe that Ebor Lex serves as a stage to display excellence in legal writing and journalism, and with the introduction of the Ebor Lex Competition Awards, it further establishes our commitment towards fostering an environment for development, innovation and talent.
